Net Balance and the Responsible Investment Association Australasia would like to invite you to an event with Paul Druckman, CEO of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC).

One of the key aims of Integrated Reporting (IR) is to ‘improve the quality of information available to providers of financial capital to enable a more efficient and productive allocation of capital’. This event will explore how far current practice meets that aim, what investors want, and what reporters can do to close the gap.

Paul Druckman will provide us with insights on the latest developments in IR around the globe. He will then be joined in conversation by Colin Higgins, MBA Director at Deakin University, and Melinda Leth, Senior Associate at Net Balance. Higgins, together with Monash University researcher Wendy Stubbs, has been exploring the attitudes of Australian investors to integrated reporting; they have identified significant barriers to the acceptance, and use, of IR by the investment community, with a clear need for stronger understanding between reporters and the users of reports.

Following an entrepreneurial career in the software industry, Paul has acted as a non‐executive chairman and director for companies in a variety of sectors. Melinda Leth
Senior Associate
Net Balance

Melinda has ten years’ experience in helping governments and the corporate sector improve their sustainability performance, with Net Balance, Sydney Water and the Department of Primary Industries, Victoria. She is currently completing a PhD in Creating Shared Value.

To further the understanding of this topic, Net Balance Research Institute is collaborating with Monash University and Deakin University on a research project to:
1. Identify the extent and nature of the information gaps that exist between what companies report and that required by the investment community (report users) to meet their needs.
2. Develop toolkits, guidelines, and case-studies of best practice company reporting, in conjunction with specific report users that provide specific guidance on the presentation, formatting and content of company reports.
This project will be outlined at the event.
