We listen and respond to our people in order to leverage from the diversity of thought that exists across the firm and to make HDY a stronger workplace. This approach is underpinned by a robust suite of evolving policies and a people-centric culture. In the last year, Diversity & Inclusion has continued to be a significant focus. We retained the WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation for the 6th consecutive year and achieved a bronze rating in the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) for our work in LGBTIQ inclusion. Gender equality has been high on the agenda with targets set for females in partnership and associated KPIs agreed for people leaders. We have also continued our focus on the Learning & Development space, particularly with respect to career development for our legal practitioners and leaders. We were listed as finalists at the Australian Law Awards 2017 for both our Transition to Leadership for Senior Associates Program and our D&I initiative, taking out the award for Employee Program of the Year for our D&I program, TogetherHDY. The Managing Partner and Board are ultimately responsible for the governance of the firm. The Board has one external director and 4 internal (partner directors). Also reporting to the managing partner is the Leadership team, encompassing People & Development, Finance, Knowledge Services and IT/Information. Strategic initiatives are driven by partners, directors or committees tasked with specific objectives all directed to achieving HDY’s purpose and vision, according to the HDY values and personality. The strategic initiatives cover both sector and client initiatives, as well as people (diversity, well being) and responsible business initiatives. HENRY DAVIS YORK
